CN Athletics over Spring Break

Baseball started off the break with a 10-5 win at Hammond to improve to 6-0 in the region with 2 games left to play.  Then headed to Gilbert HS for the SCBA Spring Break Tournament.  Finishing 2-2 with wins against RNE and Westwood with the 2 losses coming in two great games against White Knoll and Fort Mill.  Looking forward to the Cardinals staying hot on the diamond this week as they go on the road to Ben Lippen and Laurence Manning.  
 
Boys Soccer also started off the break with a great road win 4-0 at Hammond to stat undefeated in region play.  Then went on to compete in one of the best tournaments in the southeast in the Nike Palmetto Cup going 2-0-1 defeating Sumter and Ashley Ridge and then finishing in a tie with Blythewood for the final game.  Back in action this week on the road at North Augusta for a great in state soccer matchup before getting back to region play next week! 
 
Track and Field competed in the Speed Demon Showcase at Lugoff-Elgin and had an excellent showing!

Sporting Clays

Cardinal Newman #CNClayCrushers had a big weekend at Forest City Gun Club in Savannah, GA the first weekend of spring break!  We competed in four disciplines; Trap, Skeet, Sporting & Super Sporting. 

In Trap, our Intermediate Advanced squad of Landon Turner, Reese Harris and Olivia Marsden grabbed a Top Ten finish with Landon Turner finishing 7th overall in men's individual and Olivia Marsden finishing 9th overall in the women's individual. 

Jackie Oliver also took a Top Fifteen finish in the Intermediate First Year Division.

In Skeet, Shawn Farrell and will Marsden turned in an awesome scores of 95 and 90 respectively to lead the squad of John Nates, Will Marsden and Shawn Farrell to a nice 7th place finish in the Senior/JV division. Shawn's 95 tied him for 7th overall in the men's individual.

Olivia Marsden snagged 8th place in the Intermediate Advanced ladies with a nice 79.

On Saturday we shot in a cold blowing wind all day. We started with Super Sporting where our Intermediate Advanced Squad of Landon Turner, Olivia Marsden and Reese Harris took 8th place overall lead by Reese's nice score of 38/50. 

With the wind blowing even harder we finished the day in Sporting Clays. Our Intermediate Advanced Squad took 6th place overall and our Senior/JV squad got a Top Ten finish. Olivia Marsden took 4th Place in the Intermediate Advanced Division with a very nice 77.

We will be back in action again on 4/23/2022 when the shooters who qualified for the SCTP Skeet State Championship will be shooting at the NWTF Palmetto Shooting Complex in Edgefield SC.

The whole team will be shooting on 4/30/2022 in the SCYSF State Championship at Rocky Creek Sporting Clays in Richburg, SC.

 

Spring Sports are starting to make the playoff push and will be wrapping up before you know it be sure to check out the main calendar and get out to a game to support our athletes!  Community night has been rescheduled for May 5th!
